These "Topic" Journals are just gonna be me talking about stuff because I think it's interesting.

Doctor Who is the longest sci-fi running program ever made. It's been on since 1963 to today. It managed to develop a fandom of people who call themselves "whovians"

And yes I really do recommend it.

However since it started in 1963 and since it is a UK show, the UK at the time had a policy called the junking policy and yes it is what you think it is they wiped the original tapes and DESTROYED them in the 60's and 70's.

Thankfully this policy ended and the recovery of missing episodes started in 1978. From 1963 to 1989 doctor who was aired in serials, where there are several episodes that follow one story. As a result the company that owns doctor who the BBC had 152 missing episodes and 35 incomplete serials.

The episodes were found through many sources such as, Private film collectors, Some locations in the UK, And many copies from around the world, mainly countries in Africa.

And thankfully all the audio for these episodes are still intact thanks to a fan who recorded the original broadcast from the 1960's. So the BBC didn't have worry about foreign audio issues.

The stories are very interesting on how they were found. I might post another journal about this just to tell you guys how great of a hunt this is.

and yes it is still going on today as of now there are still 97 episodes waiting to be returned and restored. To see a list of the missing episodes go here: [link]

And if anyone lives in the UK, Nigeria, Cyprus, Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, New Zealand, Or Even Canada. You might find one. And trust me if you do you could be rich because the BBC pays very very high for this stuff.
